Masjid Jamek is the oldest of mosques in Kuala Lumpur, located at the meeting place of Gombak River and Klang River. Masjid Jamek is also referred to as Friday Mosque. The mosque had been built in 1907. However the official opening of the mosque was done by the Selangore Sultan two years later. The mosque combines the architectural styles of Magul, Moorish, and Islam. The mosque offers a tranquil and serene atmosphere both on the interiors and exteriors with the surrounding trees and rivers. The prayer hall is surrounded by three domes. The central dome goes as high as seventy feet.
